God Has Already Gone Ahead Of You #testimony
Being a believer in Christ means there are moments when you will have to step out on faith and you may not always be able to see the steps in front of you just yet. Sounds familiar. Like a Peter walking on water moment right? Well, something similar happened during my latest road trip. I had everything planned out except a place to stay. Now, the old me would have wanted to be sure that everything was all set prior to me leaving. The "me" today has been able to witness God move on my behalf in some ways I have never seen before. I was up for a new opportunity of increasing my faith.
After a day's worth of travels, I started to get tired and I knew that I was going to need a place to rest before I could hit my destination. While driving, I prayed and asked God for a bed to sleep in at a safe place. I knew that I needed to rest. So, I took a few minutes to pull up a few hotels nearby. As I tried to book them online, I could feel the Holy Spirit telling me that those were not it. Now I'm sitting here a little tired and wondering what God wanted me to do. I couldn't go to the places I saw, so I continued driving.
Night had fallen and I saw a sign on the side of the highway that listed places to lodge. I jumped off at the exit and immediately the peace of God overcame me. There was something about this town that made me think I was okay to rest here. Shortly, I pulled up in front of a hotel and that same peace met me inside the lobby. I remember telling myself, "God I think this is where I am supposed to stay." At first, it didn't make sense because I could have kept driving, but Holy Spirit knew my body needed to rest.
Before I continue, I just want to say, that it is important to pay attention to the nudges of the Holy Spirit. He will nudge you in the right direction and provide safety even when you aren't sure where you are. Now let me tell you something. This hotel was not even on the list that had come up on my phone earlier. I didn't even know that it existed. I was blown away by the way that God moves.
Not only did I check in, but I got a delicious hot meal and a good night's sleep. When I woke up, I was so amazed at how well-rested I felt. I couldn't believe it. I woke up and all I could say was, "Thank you God for going before me to provide the rest that you knew I needed." That rest was something else. It truly felt like divine rest from God.
Deuteronomy 31:8 NLT
"Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; he will neither fail you nor abandon you.”
Talk about a set-up. I had no idea where I was going to sleep when I had set off on this journey and yet God made a way. Here's the kicker. The staff didn't even ask me for the incidentals fee. When God goes before you, truly I tell you He will make a way through it all.
I felt led to share this testimony for multiple reasons. 1. This is truly a testament of how God will go before you. 2. If you feel that God is leading you somewhere but you aren't sure how all the steps come together know that it is okay. Because God has already figured it out for you. He is just looking for you to have faith in His plans that He has spoken over your life. (Jeremiah 29:11)
So I hope this testimony encourages you to continue to allow God to lead you and direct your steps (Psalm 37:23). He knows where He is taking you and what He is doing with you and through you. Trust in Him and have Faith. "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen" (Hebrews 11:1). Your faith will open up doors that you could have only imagined.
