Me vs Me (A Look In The Mirror)

Sometimes you have to be able to reintroduce yourself back to you. Meaning you can see that you have been through some things to get to the next level in your journey, but you serve a God who helps you to rebuild trust in Him and to be able to trust in yourself again. I remember after going through some major life changes:

  • Moving across the country

  • Moving back to the East Coast

  • Starting a new job

  • Went back to building my business

  • Getting Promoted

Can I be honest with you? Each of these transitions came with some anxiety.

They came with some doubts about whether i could really handle the weight of responsibility. They came with doubts of whether I was good enough to actually walk out His plans. The truth was that I failed a lot before I had gotten to this part. The failures were the things that many people didn't see. Not the moments when I had to leave the home I had moved into down south. Not the moments when I had a mental health break down because the stress of life kicking my butt had finally caught up to me.

Yet, there was this rebuilding and rebranding that i could feel taking place in me. Not to discourage me or make me feel like what I did wasn't enough or strong enough. But it was the ownership in the journey. Taking back what failure and shame had tried to take for me, when success didn't feel like it could be my story.

Then something shifted in me. My heart cried out and God answered. It was trauma responses that were still cycling through me. Moments where I needed to connect the dots that though I wasn't living through that trial, my body was remembering. My nervous system was trying to protect me from old hurts and new pains. That kind of kept me from doing the things that I knew I was able to. Then one day, God hit me with, "It wasn't failure, it was just a stepping stone to success. "

Romans 8:28

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

His purpose was calling out to me in the midst of it all. He was reminding me that purpose didn't stop and that His plans were still good for me. There was a call to action on my end that I needed to take.

Come back next Wednesday for part 2.
