As I sat on the stairs this morning, I was met with an image of a woman with fire all around her. This fire wasn’t like the fire that you see when buildings burn. In fact, this fire had a glow to it. It wasn’t harming her and she did not appear to be in pain. She looked like she was at peace. Although the fire was all around her, she was not fretting or worried. She was not anxious about it or anything.
1 Peter 4:12-13
Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.
Her stillness showed me that she was taking in everything that was going on in her life. As she took it all in, she understood that God was with her. As long as God was there, she could trust that the fire around her would not actually burn her. That was exactly what I saw. Think about it. How many battles have you been through where you know God had to be in the mix for you to have been able to get through it? I’m sure there are plenty of times. If you gave it even more thought, I’m sure more memories would begin to come forth. It’s important to not allow yourself to get so overworked by the fiery trials that you miss how God uses them.
Romans 8:28
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Yes, that trials may have been hard and some things may have had to be let go in the process, but God will use it for a purpose that will glorify Him. The purpose of the fire that appeared to be highlighted for this post is, “healing.” You may have experienced some stuff that caused you some pain and anguish. It may have even altered the way that you see people, places and things in your life. God is still a very good and faithful God despite all of that. He will bring forth healing and restoration in the very areas that you probably felt were too feeble to work with.
Maybe you think that you are too old or too stuck in your ways to change. Maybe you are feeling like too much damage has been done and there is no way to come back from that. Whatever the case is for you, you need to know that the plan that God has for your life was already established before any of those events took place. Meaning, His plans supersede anything that had been done by the enemy, through any selfish gain, or anything else that would have played a part in any of the life experiences endured. God loves you and there is a purpose that He has called forth for you to live out.
That purpose can and will come forth for you. God wants to bring you into a loving place with Him where you can know and trust that He is the same God. The one who was with Abraham and Joseph. As He was with them, so is He with you. He is setting you up to be refined in the fire to remove the impurities that were caused by the traumas of your life.
As this is done, God is setting you apart from the world. So, things that you may have once done or took part in will not be apart of the new life that you are living out for Christ. The way that you see yourself will be from a different lens and that is the same as how you will see Christ. You will be able to form a deeper level of trust and love God for God.
Lastly, the woman in my vision was not burned from the fire that was blazing around her. She was able to be in the midst of it without kindling upon her. The remarkable part is that a similar scene takes place in Daniel 3 with Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego who made it known to the king that they would not serve any false god. They remained faithful to God and believed that God was with them no matter what happened. By faith they believed and were not harmed.
God is no respecter of persons (Romans 2:11). So what He has done for one, He will do for another. So we as believers can trust that God will be with us no matter what we experience.
